The Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center expands its offering in the field of artificial intelligence
The ZeMA-based Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Saarbrücken will be Germany's first competence center with AI trainers.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is associated with considerable optimization potential for companies. AI not only plays an increasingly important role in large companies, but also opens up new potential for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). For many SMEs in the region, however, the topic of AI is still new territory and the possible applications and how to deal with it are still unknown:
- What is the term ‘artificial intelligence’?
- Where can AI be used in the company (production and office)?
- Where AI can optimize processes and actively support employees
It is precisely with these questions that SMEs in the field of production, services and crafts can address the Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Saarbrücken and its AI trainers turn. The ZeMA (Center for Mechatronics and Automation Technology gGmbH) is home to the Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Saarbrücken, which is the first of the 25 competence centers nationwide that now offers additional support for the application of AI to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and craftsmen. The focus will be on the use of AI in production and office. The technical implementation lies with ZeMA and the August-Wilhelm Scheer Institute for Digital Products and Processes (AWSi). Both are partners in the Competence Center Saarbrücken. With the introduction of AI trainers, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is making a decisive contribution to making German SMEs fit for the future and transferring new, supporting technologies to SMEs.
With its AI trainers, ZeMA will be particularly active in the field of AI in production. For example, SMEs will be offered workshops in which participants will get to know the application possibilities of AI for their own production in order to solve complex planning problems. In addition to workshops, the free offer also includes information events and webinars, which are held by the AI trainers. In addition, application examples are developed that offer companies a first step and show in which form and with which goal AI can be used.
