ZeMA nominated for Electrifying Ideas Award 2026
The ZVEI has announced the nominations for the Electrifying Ideas Award 2026 – and we are at it: ZeMA is one of the three nominated organisations.
An independent jury of top-class experts from business, research and society selected three finalists from numerous submissions. In addition to ZeMA, Philips GmbH and Rittal GmbH & Co. KG were also nominated.
The award recognizes innovations that use energy efficiently, conserve resources and at the same time have an economic and social impact. The nominated projects impressively demonstrated how energy can be used more intelligently and how material resources can be reduced in a targeted manner.
Innovation from Saarbrücken convinces jury
The ZeMA has been nominated for its innovative, all-electric gripping technology, which replaces classic compressed air systems in the industry. By using electrically activated shape memory wires, the solution enables energy-efficient and silent gripping processes.
The decisive advantage: Energy is only needed when grabbing and dropping, not when holding. As a result, energy savings of up to 95 percent and significant weight reductions can be achieved. At the same time, the technology opens up new possibilities for compressed air-free and sustainable production concepts.
Award ceremony at the eSummit in Berlin
The winner of the Electrifying Ideas Award 2026 will be announced on 20 May 2026 at the eSummit in Berlin. Dorothee Bär takes over the award ceremony.
With the nomination, ZeMA is already one of the outstanding innovation projects in the field of energy-efficient technologies – and once again underlines the successful combination of research and industrial application.
