AI for SMEs - AI trainer of KomZetSaar at DIHK Day

On 23 October 2020, Dirk Burkhard, AI trainer at the Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Saarbrücken, and Karl-Josef Schmitt, by Woll Maschinenbau GmbH, with an online lecture at the Day of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The audience learned how an AI-based expert system supports the employees at Woll Maschinenbau.
The AI expert system helps the employee to select the right marking technology for the manufactured parts. Particularly in view of the shortage of skilled workers, it is crucial to gather the knowledge of experienced employees who have learned over the years which type of marking is best for which component. Thanks to the expert system, this knowledge can now be provided centrally for all Woll Maschinenbau employees.

After the online presentation, the participants were able to ask questions, both about the system itself and about the procedure for development and introduction in the company.

The AI expert system is part of an implementation project in the Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Saarbrücken originated.
