The Prime Minister’s visit to ZeMA on 3 November 2022 was prompted by the six-monthly strategy discussion with the management. The management presented the research areas on the basis of a few detailed examples. Ms. Rehlinger was particularly interested in innovative approaches and new technologies, for example in the field of biomechatronic systems and elastocalorics. This is in particular against the background of what ZeMA could concretely contribute to the challenges of creating new jobs in Saarland and the value chain in addition to the topics of hydrogen and the circular economy.
It was important to Ms. Rehlinger that the ZeMA not only deals with the processing of research projects, but also with the concrete implementation in the direction of producing companies in the Saarland. Against this background, the close cooperation with industry, in particular the MILS (Montan Innovation Lab Saar), was discussed with a view to the transformation possibilities in the country.
Overall, it was a very constructive conversation in a pleasant atmosphere.
