GrundschutzPLUS - Further development of the GrundschutzPLUS activator platform

objective

The aim is to further develop the GrundschutzPLUS activator platform so that it can be used in advisory services after completion of the project. Especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), there is an urgent need for action, which will be further strengthened with the further planned legal and regulatory requirements (e.g. NIS2 Directive, Cyber Resilience Act). The project aims to develop a freemium business model in which a certain basic functionality can be used free of charge. The full range of functions of the platform is offered for a fee. It is also an objective of the project that companies can use the platform independently to strengthen the IT security level of their company.

concept

After defining the need for action, the first goal is to derive IT security information and recommendations for action from known standards (e.g. IT-Grundschutz-Kompendium, IEC 62443). In addition to the standards already considered in the platform, additional information, e.g. security requirements and measures from DIN SPEC 27076 for micro-enterprises are analyzed and integrated.
Another important building block is the development of a business model for providing the platform to customers. For this purpose, it is analyzed which requirements, in particular security requirements, are placed on the further development of the platform or the further implementation. The goal is to develop a safe application for the customer. Finally, the platform is tested, including in events, with additional feedback from stakeholders.

exploitation

For the Saarland-based company K4 DIGITAL GmbH from the ICT sector, the developed platform contributes to strengthening the services previously offered on the market in the IT security sector. In particular, the provision of security services to small and medium-sized enterprises often fails due to the lack of resources of SMEs. The developed platform represents a resource-saving support option for SMEs and enables K4 DIGITAL GmbH to expand the services already offered on the market. The economic viability lies in the background of the project. The focus is on the possibility of supporting SMEs to increase their own IT security level and the dissemination of the platform.
The participating research institute ZeMA, the ZeMA-based Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Saarbrücken and the European Digital Innovation Hub Saarland (EDIH) can significantly increase the focus on the topic of information security of production-related SMEs.
