the Embedded Robotics Laboratory (EmRoLab) htw saar and ZeMA were represented this year at Maker Faire Hannover, one of the largest Science fairs for innovators, developers and technology enthusiasts.
At a common stand from EmRoLab and the Research area Biomechatronics Systems on ZeMA presented two selected projects: On the one hand, a development platform for distributed sensor and Actuator systems (ERLmed) based on Raspberry Pi, STM32 and ROS. This platform to the flexible Development and integration of complex Robotic systems with Sensor/actuator components met with great interest from visitors.
Another highlight was an Augmented reality application that can be used in many ways in production. The presented demo application simulates the partial assembly of a workpiece in the form of holograms and serves as an effective tool for the training of new employees. Many visitors took the opportunity to try out this technology directly at the stand and get to know the potentials of this expanded perception in practice. A similar technology is also used in the current research project ‘Multi-Immerse’. HereIt is about technologies that enable immersion in a virtual environment and interaction with the virtual environment. In doing so: It is not only about visual, but also about acoustic and haptic immersion, especially about virtual touch over the Internet.. The shown application pushed especially in children on great enthusiasm, resulting in promising results in the project Let's hope.
The multitude of conversations and discussions that resulted from the presentations once again shows how important the dialogue between science and practice is. The impulses gained are to be incorporated into future projects. The fair offered valuable contacts and exchange with researchers and businesses. The success at Maker Faire reinforces this EmRoLab and ZeMA to continue to work on innovative solutions that offer real added value in both research and industrial practice.
