ZeMA goes SEI – Transformation begins

The ZeMA - Centre for Mechatronics and Automation Technology is developing to SEI - Saarland Engineering Institute. This marks the start of a new chapter for research, innovation and education in Saarland.

The SEI links engineering sciences even more closely with computer science, natural sciences and other disciplines such as medicine. The aim is to pool competencies, bring innovations into practice faster and actively shape the transformation of the Saarland.

“The further development to the Saarland Engineering Institute is based on interdisciplinary cooperation. The key is to bundle the diverse competencies even more, to create new synergies and to make common research priorities visible. In this way, we not only strengthen our innovative strength, but also increase the international perception of the location far beyond the Saarland borders.", says Prof. Dr. Susan Pulham and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Paul Motzki, Managing Director of the SEI

Further development has begun and we are transforming step by step. Be curious!

Our mission

Our mission is to pass on our research results to companies through an actively operated technology transfer. This is possible thanks to our large industrial network, which we are constantly expanding. In addition, we take an active role in academic education.

Contract research for industry

As a reliable development partner, ZeMA offers contract research for industry - from the idea to the industrial implementation. The aim is to meet the challenges of industry through innovative research and development and to establish operational solutions.

Our projects

Here we present our diverse research projects. Get a brief insight into our daily work and into the topics of the research worlds.

Our competences

In interdisciplinary teams, we analyze, conceptualize, develop and validate prototypical products and production technologies. We work closely with our industrial partners in various industries and thus enable application-oriented solutions and an industry-related transfer of results.

We focus on the areas of material systems, mechatronics and versatile production technologies.
